Add Text or File Watermark Action

FolderMill can help you automatically add an image or text watermark on PDF pages and other file types. Whether you want to watermark photos, insert a watermark when printing or converting worksheets, watermark a document using time/date or source filename (or part of it), this task can be automated with this Action.

These are popular use cases that can be automated with this Action:

  • print with a custom text watermark
  • add a copyright notice onto images
  • print files with date/time stamp on the printout
  • add original filename onto a specific page range
  • print or convert files with the page number on every page
  • place filename in the header or footer of every page
  • copy a file to another location with inserted watermark

Select type of watermark

When creating a new Add text or file watermark Action, select the type of watermark that you want to use.

Select type of watermark: image or text

You can use any raster image (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, GIF) or a PDF file as a File watermark and place it in the center, top, bottom, left or right side of a document page or image.

For Text watermark, you can type any text and fully customize it using various parameters. There is also a built-in set of macros (regular expressions) that can take information from the source file and/or system time and date.

For both types of watermark, you can set alignment, rotation, margins, and page range.

Available parameters for Text watermark and File watermark

  • Font, font size and style
  • Text – type your text here or replace with a macro {=} (or use both text and macro);
  • {=} – a set of macros containing regular expressions that can add source file data, entire or part of source file's name, date and time in various formats;
  • Text color and Opacity;
  • Background and Opacity;
  • Align option by x- and y-axis;
  • Rotation to a certain degree: 0°, 45°, 90°;
  • Margins by x- and y-axis, in percents;
  • Page range – specify single pages or only certain pages.

File watermark parameters are almost the same. There you'll need to select a certain image that you want to use as a watermark.
